A visit to Mitai-a Maori Village

Upon arriving in Rotorua, New Zealand, our friendly host, Ian, decided we should attend, Mitai, so with our agreement, off he went to book us in.
Visiting Mitai Maori Village included a Hangi (ground cooked meal), a display of ancient warrior canoes (waku) and actual Maori village site and a traditional cultural performance. We also visited the Glow worms and Rainbow Springs afterwards where we got to see a couple of Kiwis, the actual birds that is!

  1. Wow, that looks fascinating, Lesley! I would have loved to see the cultural performance especially.

  2. Very interesting, very tribal! I think my nephew has photos of this as well. Looks like a fun night, not so sure of the meal though. What was it and was it good?

  3. It was roast chicken and lamb with salads and roast potato and pumpkin. Dessert was pavlova, trifle or chocolate log. It was rather touristy but still a fun night. We sat at a table with a couple from Holland and they absolutely loved the night.
