A Visit up the Skytower is must when you visit Auckland. Fortunately the morning rain cleared for me and the views from the tower were spectacular as I could see for kilometres.

We decided to do a Harbour Cruise which was a great decision as the harbour really is quite beautiful. You may feel seasick with these as the boat was a little rocky and I haven't straightened the photos.

This was Rangitoto Island which is a dormant volcano. We just stopped for 10 minutes but tours of the island can be made by 4 wheel drive.

Imagine my excitement when a pod of whales came swimming around the boat. Even the boat crew was totally amazed.

No, we didn't stay here.

These are taken from the top of the Skytower. What a view!

These windows were in the actual floor . Creepy.

We also popped over by ferry to a lovely place called Devonport. This was the decorated railing on the wharf.

No, not ours.

These were taken just outside Auckland.
These are beautiful! The volcano island is so pretty, the water is gorgeous! What is that white caterpilar looking building on the wharf? I also like the pretty flowers they have on the railing, that must have taken someone a bit of time to do. I hate windows on the floor! That's when my issue with heights comes into play. If I look out I'm ok, it's down that gets me. Did the whales jump? It looks like a small one from your photo. Thanks so much for sharing. I think my nephew lives in Aukland but he hasn't put up photos of the city!
ReplyDeleteNo the whales didn't jump. They were little minke whales I think. The caterpillar thing was the canopy over the wharf.
